Getty, Georgie and me

Firstly thankyou to all of you who participated in Miss Getty's first virtual birthday! Isn't she such a doll. i could just eat her up-and not in the cannibal way!! LOL
And for all those businesses who either donated birthday pressies to her or gave me some great rates thankyou sooo much! I promise to do a shout out to you all once Getty has her pressie (its currently in customs)

Next i take my hat off to Tina from Georgie Girl! Now if you have been living under a rock or your male-you probably have seen the craziness surrounding  Georgie Girl at the markets last weekend! WOW!! I don't know Tina personally but i have bought fabric from her several times and we have had a few quick email chats and she is lovely!
The volume of stock Tina had completely blew me away-she must be a robot as there was rack upon racks of delicious frilliness! I do wish i had a daughter!

Here at No More Nasties i have finally caught up with the orders after the delightful set back when the roof sprung a leak and soaked everything! I'm desperate to start some new winter goodies but time is not on my side at the moment.

I have a ridiculous amount of fabric on hand, my accountant is going to slap my wrists when tax time comes!! But i do like looking at it all-all nicely stacked!

The end of a friendship

I ended a friendship tonight.

I'm not proud of the fact that i ended it but it was one of those things that i had to do. This friend hurt me several times-and it maybe petty to some but to me she made me feel so incredibly awful about myself.

So what did she do? Well when we were together behind closed doors she was fine but if i saw her in public she would completely brush me off-like i mean if we were walking towards each other she would treat me like i was a complete stranger!

I put it down to the fact that she is fat-a-phobic. Yep I'm fat-and she didn't want to be seen talking to the fatty out in public.

I did bring it to her attention and she gave some half arsed excuse that she was just busy or didn't see me...she saw me alright-I'm kinda hard to miss!

This happened a few times and well i just became resentful to her and shut her out of my life.

But tonight i deleted her off facebook. Do you know how hard that is to do?? It left me with such a ugh feeling. :(

But its done and its time to move on...

And to my new BFF Lisa H. I'd never delete you :)

i love fabric....

i love fabric...i am an addict...i cannot help myself if i see a sale on facebook for fabric i have to go and look-and usually buy!
This is why i have now decided to hide a few of my fabric favourites from my FBK newsfeed so that I'm not tempted...but this is how much of an addict i am-I've hidden them so they aren't in my newsfeed so instead i search for them...see i do have a serious problem!!

So what arrived this week in the fabric mail...
well from one of my favourite sellers The Oz Material Girls i got the most delicious Micheal Miller fabric 'Happy Hills' just love the bright colours-i might just hang onto this one till later (read:i just don't want to cut into this just yet-if ever!!)

And then from the US i got the last of the Micheal Miller Tattoo Love that i could find-wow i have searched high and low for this fabric and i think I've been searching for well over 12mths as its been out of print for a long time

And from another lovely seller in the US i was able to get this fabric-oh how i love this one-so pretty!
Its another Micheal Miller (of course-he's my fav) and its called Tea Party

Then from a new fabric business on FBK is The Fabric Tree which is run by my really good buddy, Marls and her good friend Carly.
Anyway as many of you know i am doing a big package for Getty in the US and i wanted Owls for Getty as she really likes them, well Carly and Marls came to the rescue and had the most gorgeous owl fabrics to me immediately
(its the bottom 2 fabrics)

So there has been a few fabrics arriving here this week and i hang my head in shame as i also went to Spotlight TWICE this week and spent almost $500 on fabric.....

Is there classes for fabric addicts??

What's this...i'm blogging....

One of my lovely customers, Katie, said to me last week that she hates the word, Blog-it is a funny word.

Blog.

Blog...its probably just me but when i say it over and over i think of the toilet.
But me blogging could be just that-something that belongs in the toilet!

I don't know what to expect from this Blog-i guess I'll let it lead me? or maybe I'll start out strong and then it will fall by the wayside? Who knows...but heck I'll give it a go!

Ok so you probably all know me from my facebook page and that's how you got to here.
so I'm Bec-I'm 36, mum to 4 boys, wife to 1 husband (and 1 of those is sufficient!) and i sew!
I like to sew, i also like to horde fabric!

My poor husband, Damo, for his own sanity build me my own fabric room or as it is known in this house a fabric emporium.
He gave up half of his garage and build a room inside there-it is completely waterproof, light proof-it even has carpet!

I do wish it still looked this neat and tidy-but oh god lord it doesn't! To start with right now there is 30metres of wadding wedged in there-the baby's car capsule, a camphor wood chest, all the kids old DVDs and 5 washing baskets FULL of fabrics that i haven't had a chance to go through-its just a mess. Everytime i walk out there i say to myself that i will clean it up on the weekend....which weekend i actually mean is anyones guess!!

When Damo built the emporium he had visions of me sewing out there-bahahahahaha! yeah right Damo-i can't even walk outside at night in fear that the bats in the tree will swoop down and chew on my neck (i know that they will!!)  and you expected me to sit out there in the middle of the night?? I don't think so....but while he was building it i didn't actually reveal that i wouldn't be sewing out there-he discovered that when he tried to take my sewing machines out there....that day while i wrestled the machines out of his hands, i think i saw a little piece of Damo die-he knew right then that the sewing area was never going to leave our dining room and he would forever be surrounded by fabric and mess! Poor Damo.

I started No More Nasties quite a few years ago now-it started as a hobby, selling one or 2 on eBay-then that got to 10 a week, then 15 and it just keeps going up and up.
Now not only do i make trolley covers but i do trolley capsule covers, pram/stroller liners, nappy wallets, car capsule liners, shoes and clothes-and i love all of it!

i work till the early hours of the morning, currently as i type this it is 3am-but the house is quiet and i can work without interruption. I do have a nap with baby Lucius during the day so i do get some sleep.
I find I'm much more creative at night too.

so I'm thinking that was my first post!
Its a bit jumbled and i do tend to ramble...but i hope it at least made some sense to you!! LOL i might be jumping the gun...maybe no one will read it!! :)
